Important Information

School gate opens at 8.40am

School starts at 8.45am

Lesson starts at 9.00am

School ends at 3.20pm - Monday to Thursday

School ends at 2.20pm on Fridays

Children are expected to come to school everyday, and be punctual, as attendance is key to attainment. 

PE day: Thursday

Please remember for PE children must wear:​

• Black, dark grey or navy shorts, joggers or leggings – Plain, no logos, coloured stripes​

• White or purple t-shirt plain no logos​

• Trainers any colour​

WEEK COMMENCING: 05.10.26

Music

We will continue developing our drumming skills through practical lessons.

Maths

We will explore numbers to 1,000 and beyond , composing and decomposing four-digit numbers in different ways.

RSHE

We will explore ageism, understand what it means  and discuss ways we can challenge age-bases stereotypes and discrimination.

Spanish

Las Partes del Cuerpo ( Parts of the body). We will be naming parts of our bodies in Spanish.

Science

We will learn about electrical conductors  and insulators , identify examples of each and make a list of devices that use electrical circuit.

English

We will continue reading The Iron Man and write an astronomer's log based on observations made each night. We will also focus on using conjunctions effectively.

WEEK COMMENCING: 28.09.26

Music:

We will continue continue developing our drumming skills.

Maths:

We will start our unit on Numbers to 10,000 and use our knowledge of numbers to 1,000 to solve problems. Please continue practising addition and subtraction using column methods at home , as some children are still developing confidence with aligning numbers correctly. We will continue with group interventions to address these gaps.

Spanish:

We will learn the from 20 to 30 in Spanish.

RSHE:

We will continue our unit on Communities: How are we all different? and explore Stereotypes, Prejudices and discrimination and  Ageism. Understanding what they are and how they can impact on people.

English:

Our focus text is The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will read Chapters 1 and 2 and use the story to develop our writing skills. We will write in role as Hogarth, use inverted commas to record direct speech and apply modal verbs such as could, may, might, can , should, must etc. to write a letter of advice to Hogarth. We will also use adverbials to summerise key events . Please read (online) with your child whenever you can.

WEEK COMMENCING : 21.09.26

Week 4

Music:

Children will be learning how to drum as part of our music lessons.

Maths:

We will finish our unit on column addition and subtraction by solving a mixture of addition and subtraction calculations. At the end of the week, children will complete an assessment to check their understanding of place value. This will identify any misconceptions and identify gaps that need addressing.

English:

We will finish our work on The Tin Forest by creating an informative and persuasive leaflet. As a class we will choose a local place that we feel is important to protect and look after. We will use our leaflets to inform and persuade others about why it should be cared for.

Spanish:

We will learn the from 1 to 20 in Spanish.

RSHE:

We will learn about the Equality Act 2010 and how the law protects people in Britain from discrimination.

WEEK COMMENCING : 14/09/26

Maths:

We will continue developing our understanding of column addition, including calculations where  both ones and tens column require regrouping. We will then progress to column subtraction.

History:

As part of our learning about Ancient Greece, we will explore Greek myths, learn about the city-states of Ancient Greece and write about what we know about this fascinating civilisation.

English:

We will continue exploring The Tin Forest, using the future tense to write about the old man's wishes. We will also use expanded noun phrases  to describe  settings  and write three paragraphs exploring the main theme of the story.

WEEK COMMENCING: 07/09/26

 Week 2

Music: Drumming is back! This week, we will be learning how to drum as part of our music lessons. We will develop our rhythm, coordination and ability to perform together.

Maths: We will recap the column addition method, solve word problems using addition calculations and explore calculations that requires regrouping.

English: We will be learning how to write to persuade, using The Tin Forest by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson. The story is about an old man who lives in a gray, neglected place and dreams of transforming it into a beautiful forest. We will explore persuasive language and use contrasting conjunctions, such as although, however, but , whilst and while in our writing.

History: We will begin learning about Ancient Greece. We will locate Ancient Greek on a map and create a timeline of Ancient Greek civilisation and explore key events and developments.

WEEK COMMENCING: 31/08/26

Week 1

This week focused on settling into our new environment, getting to know adults, developing handwriting skills and reflecting on previous learning. The children have settled in well and demonstrated a positive attitude, determination and enthusiasm for learning and making progress.
