Happy New Year!

 

Welcome back to Rockets! 

Thank you for all your donations for our snack table last term; if you are able to, we would really appreciate donations of any of the following for our daily, healthy snack options:

Breadsticks

Crackers

Plain Cereal (rice crispies)

Ritz Crackers

Bread 

Butter/soft cheese

 

This term we are going to be learning different nursery rhymes including:

1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive

Humpty Dumpty

Jack and Jill

Mary had a little lamb

Sing a song of sixpence 

 

We are practising counting to 5 (so our nursery rhymes will help!)

Spring Term Curriculum

 

This half term our learning is going to centre around 'Understanding the World' one of the 7 EYFS areas of learning.

Some of the ways we are going to enhance our learning will be through cooking; thinking about people who help us; role play and stories using story sacks.  In our outside area we are going to be planting some seeds and going on an insect hunt (once the weather is a little bit warmer...!)

All the staff in Nursery would like to welcome all of our existing children and families and extend a warm welcome to all of our new children and families who will be joining us over the academic year. We all look forward to getting to know you.

For Autumn 2 we will be focussing on: 

  • Majority of children are settled and co-operate with the classroom routine/boundaries e.g. tidy your toys then we will read a story. Wash your hands then we will eat lunch.
  • Children are confident and happy.
  • Children learn new words and use language for needs/ wants.
  • Children can distract themselves when upset independently or with support.
  • Listens with interest to sounds/nursery rhymes/stories/songs.
  • Children have special friends or play alongside other children.
  • Children explore all areas of learning in the environment.
  • Children improve gross motor skills e.g. through practising ball skills outdoors, mark making with chalks, painting, sweeping, sand and water play.
  • Children self- register with names and pictures of themselves

      For Autumn 1 we will be focussing on:

 

  • Children separate from primary caregiver.
  • Children have their own interests and can express their feelings.
  • Children are interested in other’s play.
  • Children begin to learn the class routines and expectations.
  • Children manage their personal hygiene, with support.
  • Children learn new words and use language for needs, wants, experiences etc.
  • Children begin to talk about themselves and their families.
  • Children self- register with names and pictures of themselves.
