Athelney Primary School

Success for today; prepared for tomorrow. Nothing is beyond our reach.

Science Week

Get involved this week with our competitions!

Science at home! Well done Poppy (y5) and Oliver!

Land Art Entries

Mercury Bread...

This year, the theme is Growth.

We will celebrate and explore this in various ways, and focus largely on our amazing local resource, The Waterlink Way, where the Rivers Pool and Ravensbourne meet in a confluence, and we can see a wonderful variety of plants and wildlife throughout the seasons.

We will be hosting several visitors and carrying out whole-School investigations and competitions. We shall even be creating a nature art work, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

Have a look below to find out more!

Nature trail

Every class from Y1-6 will carry out a trail of discovery in the Waterlink Way.

What will they be able to see? Hear? Can they spot any birds making nests? Pecking at trees?

A Scientist Just like Me!

As part of realising that Science is everywhere, we also recognise that Science is relevant to all of us and that people from all walks of life, ethnicities and genders can and do study Science. There are a huge number of related fields within Science and many professions to be discovered for Science enthusiasts.

Some of our visitors over Science week will offer Q&As about their careers and we will be launching this strand of Science at our school during Science week.

Nature Art

We will be looking at how to create temporary Art with only found natural resources, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.
