Healthy Early Years London
Healthy Early Years London (HEYL) is an awards scheme funded by the Mayor of London which supports and recognises good practise in child health, wellbeing and development in early years settings such as:
- Healthy eating
- Oral health
- Physical activity
- Emotional wellbeing
- Early cognitive development
- Reducing health inequalities
Settings can work towards Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards, and many London boroughs continue to support local settings through the programme.
We have achieved First Steps, Bronze and Silver Award!
BRONZE
We will be working towards getting our bronze award where we will be showcasing what good practice we are doing in our Early Years to support the children's well-being, health and development e.g. trips, physical health, free flow curriculum etc..
We will be focussing on improving:
1.making our snack table more healthy with a range of different healthy foods e.g. cereal, bread sticks, crackers, fruit, toast
2. Increasing our parent partnerships to support the children's learning.
3. Implementing life skill sessions
SILVER
We will now be working towards the silver award where our case study will be focussing on the outdoor area- how we can improve it and how the outdoors has a positive impact on children' s health and wellbeing.
Due the COVID and schools closing in March 2020, we will be carrying on achieving the silver award.
