Important information for this term;

Reading Journals

Reading Journals should be returned to class each morning. There is lots of research which supports the importance of reading regularly and it is so great that the children have this message emphasised at home too.

We have lots of different text types in class and the children are more than welcome to take them home, we ask the children to complete written activities to ensure they are engaging appropriately with the texts and they understand what they have read.

This focus on comprehension has already proved to be a great success and it is reflected in the children's written work during literacy.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Homework

Homework is sent out on a Friday and Should be returned by Wednesday. On Thursdays, we have our spelling test which is based on the spellings which are sent home for that week.

In addition, the children have maths tasks and can also access Times Table rockstars or Maths Frame, which are fun and interactive and also help support the childrens Maths learning within class.

Gymnastics

On Thursdays, we have Gymnastics which is indoors. In order for the children to be comfortable and be able to move appropriately, the gymnastics teacher has suggested the children wear shorts or roll up their tracksuit bottoms.

The children should not wear earrings or any other form of jewellery as this is a potential hazard for the children whilst they are using the equipment.

Cricket

As the weather is improving (thankfully!), our Cricket sessions are likely to be outside as much as possible. Therefore, you may wish to pack tracksuit bottoms for the children until Summer finally arrives. Shorts are fine as the children are constantly moving however the PE kit must adhere to the school uniform expectations, the children should have appropriate footwear to ensure they have the necessary grip they need whilst running.

Earth class are really enjoying their PE this term but we must be mindful of the expectations for uniform as this keeps the children safe whilst ensuring they are able to use all equipment appropriately. If the children do not have the appropriate kit, we may request that they sit out of a session.
