Fractions of amounts using the bar model

In this video we use the bar model and the CPA (Concrete Pictorial Abstract) approach to finding fractions of amounts of unit and non-unit fractions.

Instead of counters you could use any other objects that you have lots of at home or even a bag of sweets! Smarties, midget gems, skittles are perfect for this.
Alternatively, you could draw them out into the bar.
