Athelney Primary School

Success for today; prepared for tomorrow. Nothing is beyond our reach.

Three- and Four-Year-Old Provision

At Athelney Primary School we have a thriving 3–4-year-old provision. We have two available time slots for 15 hour place children (AM or PM) as well as 30-hour places for our children.  All children aged 3 and 4 years old are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare in an early years setting.

15-Hour Places:

You have the option of either an AM or a PM session: a morning session from 8:45am to 11:45am  or an afternoon session from 12:30pm to 3:30 pm.

If you have a 15-hour place, we only offer part-day options, and you can request either an AM or PM session five days a week for 38 weeks per year. We do not offer the option to have your hours in full days unless you have an eligibility code for 30 hours.

30-Hour Eligibility Codes:

If you have an Eligibility code for 30 hours, the start time is from 8:45am to 3:30pm. These hours exceed the 30-hour free entitlement and currently, we do not charge for this, unlike some other local provisions. Additionally, we offer the option of a school meal, which is charged at £2.42 per day. Alternatively, you may provide your child with a healthy packed lunch.

In addition to the above, your child will have the unique opportunity to participate in swimming lessons. We provide our full-time nursery children with the opportunity to learn to swim, once a week at no extra charge.

How do I apply for a 30-hour code?

Step 1: It's important to check if you have a 30-hour eligibility code. You can do this by applying here: www.gov.uk/check-eligible-free-childcare-if-youre-working.

You must live in England to apply for this childcare support. The amount of childcare support you can get depends on several factors

Step 2: You need to apply the term before you want to take up a place.

For example, if you want to take up a place for your child from September, you need to apply during the summer term (1 April-31 August).

Step 3: How Do I Apply? Apply using the link here. There is a really useful video here to support your application https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-38fMXaGSk

Step 4: Give the eligibility code to us. Please provide us with your childcare account code, along with your National Insurance number and your child's date of birth. We will then check that your code is valid; you cannot take up a 30-hour place without it.

Step 5: You must confirm that your details and eligibility code are up to date every three months, or your code will expire. Sign into your childcare account to confirm your details.

You will receive a reminder to do this from Childcare Choices. Without reconfirming, you will lose your entitlement.
