Join Our Team as a Receptionist / Admin Assistant.
Location: Athelney and Elfrida Primary School (The King Alfred Federation)
Hours: 35 hours per week, term time only + 1 additional week
Salary Scale: Scale 3
Start Date: September 2025

About the Role
We are seeking a Receptionist / Admin Assistant to join our dedicated school office team. This is a key role at the heart of our school, where you’ll be the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and staff—ensuring a warm, professional, and safe environment.
You’ll provide vital administrative support across a range of school functions, from managing communications and maintaining records to supporting trips, clubs, and safeguarding processes. You’ll also play a part in managing resources and finances, helping to keep our school running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors and manage reception duties with professionalism and care.
- Handle phone and email communications, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Support school events, trips, and clubs with excellent organisational skills.
- Maintain accurate records and use key school systems (e.g., Arbor, CPOMS, InVentry).
- Assist with attendance tracking, safeguarding logs, and first aid duties.
- Provide general administrative support to staff and leadership teams.
- Help manage school finances, including trip payments and resource orders.

About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding position focused on:
Pupil Attendance & Welfare: Promote good attendance, liaise with families, and maintain accurate records.
School Admissions: Manage the admissions process, organise open days, and ensure a welcoming experience for prospective families.
School Meals Administration: Oversee meal records, manage free school meal checks, and liaise with catering staff.
