Rockets Nursery Class

Welcome to Nursery Rockets

PE: Wednesday morning

Swimming: Thursday morning (for named children) and Friday afternoon for Full-Time children 3 years and older.

 

IN A SEPERATE BAG-
swimming trunks/ costume, towel, swimming cap 

Please wear black leggings/ joggers/ white polo/ jumper/ socks and shoes.
NO TIGHTS under leggings or LACES

Morning session: 8.45 - 11.45
Afternoon Session: 12.30-3.30

Everyday you child needs to bring in their school bag and a water bottle.

Please have a bag with spare clothes, that can be left in school. This is very important, in case your child wets themselves, or gets dirty.

 

Autumn 1 we will be focussing on 
 

  • Children separate from primary caregiver.
  • Children have their own interests and can express their feelings.
  • Children are interested in other’s play.
  • Children begin to learn the class routines and expectations.
  • Children manage their personal hygiene, with support.
  • Children learn new words and use language for needs, wants, experiences etc.
  • Children begin to talk about themselves and their families.
  • Children self- register with names and pictures of themselves.

Christmas Workshop

Today we had a lovely morning celebrating with our families. We sang songs, and families took part in a range of festive activities including; decorating gingerbread men, paining Christmas decorations, making Christmas cards, and even making reindeer food- What fun!

Spring 1- This term children will learn to:

  • Speak clearly- using their words to communicate needs e.g. excuse me/ help me  
  • Actively listen   
  • Follow simple instructions and children to respond to simple instructions e.g. questioning based on a book 
  • recognise their name in self-registration.  
  • represent objects via their pencil marks.  
  • know some fairy tale stories. 
  • Life skills- road safety, healthy vs unhealthy, oral health, personal hygiene 
  • Using mathematical language by size e.g. big/ small, fat/thin. Begin to sort objects based on colour/ size.  
  • Are more confident in their gross motor skills and begin to support fine motor.  
  • Beginning to count objects in play to 5 and singing maths nursery rhymes/songs. 
  • To learn colour names  
  • Know different emotions e.g. sad, happy cross, scared
