Athelney Primary... Inclusion at its best!

At the King Alfred Federation we believe that every child has the right to access a full and varied curriculum within an environment that ensures each individual is valued and respected.  We strive to deliver a differentiated and creative curriculum which meets the needs of each pupil whether their need is academic, physical, emotional, social, sensory or behavioural.

Children with any special need or disability should have the same opportunities to achieve and associate with their peers, and have access to the whole range of opportunities in education, leisure and community activities.

At King Alfred Federation we aim to identify needs as they arise and to provide teaching and learning contexts which enable every child to achieve to their fullest potential.

Local Authority SEND inspection

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will carry out a joint inspection of Lewisham local authority from 2 October 2017 to 6 October 2017.

This inspection will evaluate London Borough of Lewisham’s effectiveness in:

* identifying the needs of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities

* meeting the needs of these children and young people so that their outcomes and chances of participating fully in society improve.

Whilst the Ofsted and CQC inspection team will not visit our school as part of the LA SEND inspection, gathering the views of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, and the views of their parents and carers is an important part of the evidence that they collect.

The inspection will also include an online webinar to allow other London Borough of Lewisham parents and carers to contribute. The webinar will take place at 1.00pm on Friday, 29 September 2017. It will led by the lead inspector, who will ask parents and carers about their views and experiences on how effectively London Borough of Lewisham is fulfilling the above responsibilities. If you would like to take part in this webinar then please follow this internet link

The inspectors would like parents and carers to understand that they will not be able to follow up or comment upon individual cases.
